Full Service Utilization Studies
Need accurate utilization data for a one-time big decision? leave it to us.
Utilization data gathered by observers offers a nuanced understanding of how space is used. "How many people are in the room, doing what activities?" "Are they using specific equipment or furniture?" These questions and more are answered with just one or two weeks of an observation study.
Why Choose FacilityQuest to manage your project?
Timing... "we have a small window of opportunity to get this done, but we won't know until a few weeks (or even days) ahead whether we'll be able to do it."
Analysis... "will we know what to do with the data once we have it? Will we get clear value?"
Experience... "how can we have confidence in a successful outcome when we've never done anything like this before?"
No problem; We’ve got this.
We are experts at remote management of observation studies, or you can choose to have us on-site as well. Delegate the logistics to us. We even help you interpret the data, with custom consultations built in to basic costs.
As Little as Three Weeks from Start to Finish
One week to setup: You send us floor plans and tell us what spaces you want observed. We set up and manage the project. You have visibility into everything all the time. We check in regularly to make sure your goals get met.
One week to observe: Most projects gather data over 5 business days. Spaces are observed every hour throughout the day. Typically, you provide the observers from your staff or by hiring temps, and you provide an onsite contact; we manage everything else (we train the onsite person to instruct the observers, we monitor the data as it rolls in, etc.).
One week to digest the results: As soon as data gathering starts we'll show you how to interact with dashboard findings. You can jump right in and begin exploring, or wait until we send a detailed "appendix" report. You schedule an hour with our workplace strategist to slice and dice the results and get additional customized reports. Then you have a week to follow up with questions by email. Deeper engagement with our workplace strategist is always available as a supplemental service.
a pilot project: 50 spaces for $500
Test the process and prove the value. A pilot workplace utilization project is a great way to evaluate the findings. Dashboards light up with business intelligence just as brightly with a small project, and you can "sell" the idea to leadership for a full blown analysis that can change the trajectory of real estate decisions.

How many spaces do you need to understand? How much will the Activity Analysis project cost? How much time will you need to invest? How much help do you need to understand the data?
First a ballpark quote. Then some discussion on goals and options if you are ready to move forward. No obligation. You drive the process.
Why Measure?
"There's a big workplace or corporate real estate change on the horizon, and I'm pushing for data-driven decision making."
"We have an opportunity for experimentation, to improve the workplace experience and employee engagement. Real data would be great."
"We want detailed data that shows how many people doing what activities (and maybe using which tools or furniture) in our spaces."
"Unoccupied" means no one is using the space, right? Not always. An observer can see "signs of life," that someone has stepped out but is coming back. Tip-offs include personal items left in the room that would discourage anyone else from taking over the space. Your data can tease out "temporarily unoccupied" to identify how often certain space is "off limits."
"But sensors are the future, right?" For now, observers are the industry standard way to understand how space is being used. And then there are the technical challenges and capital costs of sensors.
But if you already have sensors gathering data, we can import it for analysis. Even then, short term observation studies data can be compared and contrasted with sensor data over time for a fuller picture.
